I have been so enamoured with Utilities Included that I wanted to thank you personally for writing a masterclass in characterisation (and smut)! The little details in it are so damn impressive. I think I've re-read this fic about five times in the span of two weeks now.

I've been mulling over a headcanon about a Zoro rut later on in their relationship. I have to ask: have you considered a side story with this mind? If so, what would that have looked like?

A thought I had, given he is attached to Sanji's scent, had Zoro less sexually driven during rut and more scent-driven.

i've considered a few side story/continuation scenarios for UI, but i only have the vaguest ideas of what i could write (most of which involve luffy or koby, actually) instead of real plans to do so.

i agree that scent would play a huge role in zoro's experiences in rut (as it would any alpha, really)! i also think an even BIGGER component for him would be the hormones. sanji's rut hormones overpowered his fears of being intimate with another alpha, which was a Huge deal for him. i fear zoro's would have him trying to bench press nami's car 😭

that being said, i think the chances of zoro missing his surpressants once he's in a relationship with sanji are... basically zero. sanji will always prefer to be clear-headed and in control, and i think it would bother him to know his partner isn't in that same headspace. left to his own devices, zoro is largely ambivalent about rut surpressants (and has missed many a dose pre-UI), but he knows that staying on top of them takes the edge off sanji's nerves, and he likes taking care of him in seemingly-small gestures like that.

i'm sure there will be times where, despite everyone's best intentions, he ends up missing a dose (sickness, flight delays, and other miseries). and for that, i would love to hear headcanons about what might happen! ☺️

a lot of the time it sort of seems like most of the fandom likes peter with other superheroes so his supporting cast is mostly window dressing.

Is this an mcu fandom thing? I’ve read a lot of shipping fics with Spidey and with him x other heroes you can tell a bit when the author is more familiar with one hero over the other, like sometimes with spideytorch fics it’ll get into a lot of Johnny’s exes and villains and stuff like Lyja and Crystal and Namor and MJ will only be touched on without mentioning Gwen or Felicia, but then other times the author will focus on all the people Peter knows and MJ will usually even be an actual character in the fic while Doom and generic aliens and vaguely just “supermodel exes” get mentioned for Johnny

I should also state I usually read fics where the relationship is developing rather than established and it’s the main point of the fic, and when the romance is the focal point, it makes sense to me that other characters and stuff will fall to the wayside (now, if it was just generically a Peter fic, and all his peeps were barely even mentioned, that’d piss me off, you can’t downplay the significance of Harry and MJ and all them in his life), but I wouldn’t really think of them as window dressing, they’re just secondary characters in a romance fic

But we could be reading v different types of fics where they aren’t treating his supporting cast v well at all, I do filter out a lot

And I suspect it’s mcu stuff, only because I know that sadly enough there’s fics in that fandom that don’t just write out aunt may but will even villainize her (and not even in a fun “what if this character was a villain” way), so I could see that section writing out MJ and Ned

I have not heard of them, I’m actually having trouble finding them online rn, so I’m saying this without knowing the history or nature of their opinions; but baseline, as a fellow reviewer I respect them for having the bravery to state their opinions. Because backlash from those fandoms isn’t surprising, especially the Helluva Boss fandom. They can be really relentless. Again though, I’m saying that without context.

When I first spoke up about Helluva Boss’s bad writing, people said I was homophobic for not liking Stolas’s and Blitz’s retconned relationship dynamic. It’s a fallacy of sorts, to accuse someone of hateful bias when there’s no evidence to it.

If you’ve seen my other posts, I’ve claimed Isabella from Encanto and Kat from Wendell and Wilde are unlikeable jerks because they treat the innocent people who have consistently helped them like trash, and they never apologize for it. People called me racist for that too.

Which is sort of what you’re doing with that last comment, “If you don’t support this person, you’re racist”? Thats exactly what the Helluva Boss fandom is doing. Unless someone is blatantly making comments about that persons race, I’d say they’re just in disagreement with their opinions.

A lot of fandoms lack critical thinking skills, so even if their counter opinions don’t make much sense, it’s for that reason I can’t just assign them a bias. Some people have tunnel vision when it comes to consuming media so I try to give people the benefit of the doubt.
